Baby Jack - Six Months

Birth: 7lbs 8oz, 21in long
1 Month: 9lbs 4oz, 22 3/4in long
2 Months: 11lbs 12oz, 24in long
3 Months: 13lbs 6oz, 25 3/4in long
4 Months: 14lbs 6oz, 27 1/4in long
5 Months: 15lbs 9oz, 27 3/4in long
6 Months: 16 lbs 6oz, 28 1/4in long

Here's the little guy in his newest BumGenius diaper - the "Albert"
(it has math equations all over it - swoon.)

Here is what Jack is up to at six months:
  • Talking. All. The. Time. He babbles and squeals and just generally loves to hear his own voice. (Who doesn't?) You can definitely hold a conversation with the kid. You may not know what he's saying, but he'll keep it up for a while.
  • Drooooooling.
  • Eats EVERYTHING you put in his mouth! He loves cereal. He loves fruit. He loves veggies. He loves FOOD! This weekend I am going to make his food for the first time! I am planning to still get pre-made food (it's just so convenient!) but thought I would try to whip up some squash, zucchini, and broccoli for him to try.
  • He loves to stand up - being held of course. He loves this more than sitting most of the time! And even better - he will let me hold his hands while he stands, and then we dance! I LOVE IT!!!
  • He giggles and laughs all the time, especially for Daddy.
  • He's SUCH a roly poly too! If I put him on his activity mat and turn my back for a second, he has rolled and rolled and rolled off of it and halfway across the room.
And now a video of Jackson for his six month mirthday/half birthday:

Ordinary Morning

Just another ordinary morning at our house.

Daddy likes to bring Jack in to lay down with me when he goes to work.
I think Jack likes this little ritual. :)

love the neck rolls

socks tend to come off when you're so wiggly

...someone REEEALLY needs a haircut.

wittle bitty hands

Having fun, having fun... okay Mom, I'm ready to get outta here!

My sweet drooly boy.

Love my life. :)

Fixing Broken Things

I dropped my phone.

My BRAND NEW PHONE.

And it shattered.
I was trying to take it out of my jacket pocket to get Jack out of the car to go to daycare and BAM!! It fell from waist high, flat on the concrete.

Oh jeez la weez. I was devastated! I mean, can I not keep new things nice?! ::sigh::

What REALLY stinks is that about 1+ week earlier Jason ordered me a new case for Christmas, and if I had that on there already, it probably wouldn't have busted.

I texted my friend Robert who works for Verizon and asked for his advice on what to do, assuming I would have to get a brand new phone for several hundred dollars. He said that a coworker had the same thing happen and he suggested looking for a new back on Amazon. Oh gosh, how much is that gonna run me, I thought. Less than $10, he said!!! So I found one for $7, and went ahead and did rush shipping for $7. Within a couple days, I got the new back and Jason quickly put it on for me, and it really worked!! For $15 we were able to fix my phone!

Then right before Christmas, my beautiful phone cover from Lipstick Shades came in! Isn't it awesome?!
With an Otter Box on there, hopefully we won't have anymore incidents... hopefully.

Have you ever owned something for a really short amount of time and broken it?

Jack on New Year's Eve

Here's a video of sweet Jack on New Year's Eve!

BE ADVISED - this video is over 5 minutes long! So unless you're my mom (hi mom!), you probably won't want to watch it all.

Also BE ADVISED - that if you DO watch the whole thing, I start to say goodbye to him like 2 minutes before I stop filming. So don't get your hopes up that it's over when I first say bye. :) He just kept being cute and I couldn't stop filming!
(Oh, and I change the orientation of the video right there at the end... sorry!)

I LOVE THIS SWEET SPIRITED BABY!!

Top 5 Posts of 2011

Since Blogger now has "stats" easily available, I thought I would let you know what the Top 5 Posts of 2011 were! All but one has SOMETHING to do with Baby Lawhorn - go figure. :)

A lovely post showing my big 'ol belly. (And YIKES - my actual belly!!)
Hard to believe that Mr. Jack was in there!

I seriously have NO IDEA why this keeps showing up as a popular post. Honestly! It's from February 2010 but it showed up a lot this year as something people were reading. And what's bad is that since this room is now Jack's nursery, I don't even know where these canvases are... Hmmm... maybe I should look for them.

After hoping to find out the gender of our sweet baby in February (and not getting to find out), then going back 4 weeks later and finding out, we had a party with our families to reveal our big news to them!! We had cupcakes filled with colored icing and filmed our families response - it was awesome!

I love that you guys loved this post! It is a post I know I will cherish forever. Some great advice I would give to any mommies-to-be is to text yourself, email yourself, journal, etc. while you are in the hospital! There are more details than you realize (fabulous nurses' names, what time something happened, a funny joke), and if you're anything like me, you'll forget before you know it! So Jason started an email to me and added details throughout our time there and just saved it as a draft until we had everything that we wanted to remember. It was SUPER helpful when I was writing this post. Thanks babe!

Not surprisingly, the #1 post of 2011 was the revealing of Jack's nursery! :) Everybody loves a good before and after, am I right?! I still love this room - every time I go in there. (Which is a lot, by the way.) And even though it is probably the most "done" room in the house, it's still changing! Did you see this post - the re-reveal of baby boy's room

Well, that was fun! I love looking back and seeing how much has changed and how God has blessed us in just one short year! Was your favorite post listed?

2012 Yearly Goals

It has been six months since I last did monthly goals. (Can anyone think of something that happened 6 months ago that may have caused this "pause"?)

I sat down the other day to think through what I would want to do for yearly goals, and came up with 5-6 major ones to strive for this year.

Then I decided to look back at last years major goals (Sanity & Smiles, if you remember) and what did I find? Basically the EXACT SAME GOALS.

And I thought I was being original.

I guess it just means they are good goals and I should continue to work towards making them a regular part of life! So here they are, my yearly goals for 2012!

Home
Plan our meals (1 new recipe/month?)
Become a coupon guru
Clean the house about 10x more than I did last year

Personal
Read 2+ books/month (1 fun, 1 good for me)
Exercise in fun ways so that I might actually keep it up
Memorize Scripture and practice it often

Wife/Mommy
This will be an ever changing category as Jack grows and his needs change

I'm so excited about the new year, new month, new goals! Here's to another AMAZING year!!
