Wonderful Weekends of Wonder and Wandering

I’d really love to sit here and post about Spring Break, but I’m just so sad that I’m not there anymore that I just CAN’T DO IT!!! I promise at some point I truly will post pictures and talk about all the fun, but for now, it’s back to the real world!

Jason’s birthday was last week (24 – YOU'RE SO OLD – I have to throw that in every chance I get) and I feel like we didn’t really get to celebrate too much! We had a big cookie cake at the pool hall (haha to any of those who know about the cookie cake!) which was really fun and YUMMY but then that was kind of the end of it. We’ll say that Disney was part of the pre-celebration, celebration. Anyway, I have no clue what we did Friday… probably not much of anything. Then Saturday I got to go to the Creative Discovery Museum and help with TN Saves Day.

It was super cute to see all the excited little kids and even teach them some things about money. Okay, two points I have to make here: FIRST of all, (and the not-so-important one) I had to stand in the rain for 15 minutes while waiting in line to pay a ridiculous amount of money for parking in front of the museum. I mean really… who wants to pay in the first place, THEN stand in the rain for the OPPORTUNITY? Grrr…So number 2 is actually important: some of these kids didn’t know much at all about money. I know when Nick was little he knew his coins and how much each was worth – maybe it was because he was a greedy little money bags. But really, I mean, some 4 year olds were spouting it off like it was nothing while some 8-9 year olds look dumbfounded. It was sad but pretty rewarding to sit down with them and teach them the differences between each coin and then encouraging them to save their pennies.

After that it was off to Jason’s to help him work on his paper. Well, that sounds a little misleading. I watched movies and he worked on his paper. I’m such a good girlfriend. Haha! (Nancy Drew was cute!) Then when he finally finished, and endured the ever so dreadful “Dad-check”, he was finally done with his part. YAY! So we rented August Rush – AMAZING. We had seen it in theaters so we knew it was great, but it’s just so cute. Music lovers will be satisfied.

Sunday morning was our very first “Young Singles Sunday School Class” taught by the oh-so-famous George and Susan! I can’t wait to spend more time with this amazing family because, let’s face it, they have two of the coolest kids I know. Jason has always had a deep respect for Mr. Liner and rightly so. I can’t wait to get more into this class and remember what Sunday school is all about… it’s just been a while. I’m praying that I’ll stick with it because it’s definitely going to be beneficial. And the sermon was killer yesterday. Man, I really needed to hear pretty much every word the Lord put on Dr. Dooley’s heart. Really quickly, let me go over a few things he said.

In verse 1 it says, "Guard your steps as you go to the house of God and draw near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools; for they do not know they are doing evil." Wow. Okay, so that means when you're getting ready to worship or pray you need to BE QUIET and just LISTEN. Don't think "what can I get out of this today" but rather "what can I give to God today". Dr. Dooley also made a point about those who are in church who spend more of their thoughts during the service about when it will be over than anything else. YIKES! Was he looking at me when he said that? Shew. Because that can definitely be me. I guess I have to go to church today... oooh, what am I going to wear? I wonder if I'll see Becca or some of my CRU girls... When my attitude in the time before and during church should be reverence and respect.

Verse 2: "Do not be hasty in word or impulsive in thought to bring up a matter in the presence of God For God is in heaven and you are on the earth; therefore let your words be few." Adam gave a fabulous example that I would have never thought of to help prepare your heart for prayer. If you had the opportunity to go sit in the Oval Office with the President (put away your political biases on this one) and tell him your biggest concerns - good and bad - and really anything else that you wanted to say while you were with him. You get in there and it's just you and him. The leader of our COUNTRY. Would you just start spouting off the first things that came to mind? NO!!!! You would have been prepared, you would know exactly what you were going to say even weeks before you went. Dr. Dooley said that the Pres. is just a man here on earth and we give him that kind of respect and reverence when speaking with him, how much MORE should we give to the Lord of the entire UNIVERSE!

Shew. It was good one. And tough to take in and let soak all the way through. Today I was thinking about it and then stumbled upon Alex's page and read her list of the things her Bible study girls should know and was reminded of camp. Man, what a fellowship and an encouraging time. Anyway, so I was reading that and watched the "Biblical Barbie" video (hilarious and sad) and realized that that's what I expect from myself. It's like I have to be EVERYTHING or just forget it, I can't do any of it, ya know? So I decided to order the book The New Eve. (I'm such a sucker for books... Jason and I will have a full out library some day.) So yeah, be praying for me that I will continue to let the Lord soften my heart and draw me back to Him.

PRAYER REQUEST: As many of you know, I am interning at Chattem in the market research department right now. It has been amazing and such a great learning experience. Until a few weeks ago, there was a possibility that it would turn into a full time job, but it's not going to be. So it's off to the job hunt races for me. BUT there's a potential of another job here at Chattem, so that's the prayer request. I would LOVE to stay here!! Now that I have fully bored you with my long winded post - have a fabulous Monday.

No. Stinkin'. Way.

I'll try to inform you of the craziness that is my life when it comes to Spring Break '08. It has been planned for quite some time now that I will be getting my wisdom teeth out on March 10th (at 10:15, just in case you were wondering). So whoo hoo. My big plans for my senior year spring break = applesauce, mashed potatoes, sleeping, and lots of chick flicks.

Yesterday morning Meagan texts me and says, "Orlando next week, you in?" (not her exact words, in case she's reading this) and I'm like yeah buddy, minus the fact that I'm getting teeth pulled. Surely I'll be fine to go (that's my wishful thinking, of course). And she goes on to inform me that she has passes for Disney and wants me and Jason to be able to go with her and Brandon. HOLY COW! So I'm like freaking out thinking that there's some possibility that I could get to go to DISNEY WORLD!! (By the way, I've only been once ever and you can't even really count it because I was 5 and I truly don't remember ANYTHING. Oh yeah , and get this - I got mad at my parents for making me leave elementary school early that day because we were watching a play at school. Come on now.) So anyways, me and Meg are totally in. Now it was time to move on to the boys.

Brandon is all about it and so is Jason. WHOO HOO!! We're in the clear!... Not yet. Next on the list is my parents. Holla at me if you've ever heard the "I can't drive anywhere because the Volvo might break down" stories. Well, now that the Volvo's gone, I still have limited freedom when it comes to where I can go. Crazy enough my parents are ALL FOR IT and couldn't be happier that I have the opportunity to go to Disney. And they said that it would be no problem to reschedule my wisdom teeth appointment. Whew! Mark that one off the list. Then it's on to Brandon's parents. Check. Okay, so we're ALL GO for this! So we make reservations for Wed. through Sat. and I go to bed (or lay awake in bed, rather) as giddy as a little kid! I seriously couldn't get to sleep last night because I was dreaming of standing in front of Cinderella's castle!!! AHHH!!! Okay. I'm over it. (Not really.)

Then today I wake up to a phone call from Jason saying that there's really no way he can get off work for 3 days next week on such short notice. So then it's back to the drawing board. We're going. We're not going. Back and forth, so I've been going nuts today (along with the other members of my party, I'm sure). But here it is Wednesday and after all the craziness, we ARE going! Jason can get off two days so we just moved the trip to Thurs. to Sun.

Whew, I'm exhausted. Are you? :) So no wisdom teeth until after graduation (ptl.) and Minnie, here I come. There's still some part of me that's waiting for it to all fall apart, but hopefully that'll go away in the next few days as I'm PACKING and making sure my autograph book is dusted off. (Not really. Of course I'm buying a new one, silly.)
