HELP! Me Finish: The Guest Room

Okay, remember about a year ago when my boyfriend bought a house with a room that looked like THIS?

We dubbed it "the horse room" and ripped the carpet up before you could say yippie-ki-yay. Then it looked like this:

Then one weekend my mom and I painted it a beautiful green and over time we've put some furniture in it and now in addition to being called "the horse room", it's called "the guest room", "the green room", and "Missy's room". Below is what it looks like RIGHT NOW: (obviously I didn't clean up one bit - for the purpose of a great before picture, of course)
(Picture #1)

Here's the bed, given to us by Jason's grandparents...
(Picture #2)

...Remember it from my apartment? The bedding is the same, just flipped on the striped side instead of the circles, plus a pretty white comforter we got at a wedding shower.

The dresser is from my old bedroom and oh yes, if you didn't already notice, the horse curtains are STILL ALIVE!!!!!!
(Picture #3)

SEE?!?!
(Picture #4)

So here's where you come in! I would really love for you to help me finish this room. The wall color, bed/bedding, dresser, and mirror stay, but really everything else probably needs a new home. And we need new curtains. Like yesterday.

What decorative touches would you put in here? Above the bed? On the wall to the left of the bed (in picture #2)? Move the bed altogether? What color/style curtains? Anything you can possibly think of to finish this space, I would LOVE to hear it! Links, pictures, detailed analysis - heck, I'd love a "moodboard" if you wanna go that far! :)

DON'T HOLD BACK!! I NEED YA ON THIS ONE!!

Our Tiny Dancer

Last night Jason and I got to see Jessica perform in Verve at Baylor!

This isn't her actual performance, but her dance was called "Fire". Don't you love the cool flowy outfits??

The whole cast.

Our BEAUTIFUL sister with her big brother!
(Can you tell by her huge smile that she just got her braces off?!? - GORGEOUS!)

The family:

One of Jessica's best friends, Meg, and her mom came to watch! Jess was SOOOOO excited Meg was there!!

I LOVE YOU SIS!!!

These Are a Few of Karie's...

I was SOOOOOOO excited when Jason told me I had a package waiting for me at home yesterday!!

Remember Blair's Blog Swap? And what I sent to Rachel? Yesterday it was my turn! :)

What could it be? Cute fabric covering the stuff...

Wait - it's a bag!!!

With all KINDS of goodies!!!

Her note says, "Here are a few things I enjoy throughout the year-
Winter - hot drinks (coffee mug, hot chocolate mix, marshmallows, hot tea bags)
Spring - cracker jacks at ball games
Summer - lemonade
Fall - picturesque scenery (adorable scrapbook!)
and of course some chocolate (candies and a pack of Little Debbies) to get me through! Enjoy, Karie"

I thought, hmmm.. what could this be?

It had tea bags in it!! AWESOME!!

And here's a close up of the album.

Wow, all the way from Las Vegas, NV - it was so worth the wait!! Thanks Karie! :)

Pop In and Hang Out!

On Sunday night, Hunter (Jason's bro) called and asked if he and Elizabeth could stop by for a minute. OF COURSE, we said.

And then we made them play Sequence...

They are tough competitors... and we lost. Boooooo!! In our own house!

And then we made them stay for dinner!! YAY!

So if you're ever in the neighborhood and stop by for a few minutes, we may make you stay the whole evening! :)

We love you guys and can't wait for October!!

MPM: February Week 1

In an effort to spend less by buying only what I need, and also to have a clue what we're having for dinner each night, I am (again) attempting meal planning. :)

I know myself and my limits, so I'm only planning 4 homemade meals each week, and I'm going to be fairly flexible on when we have them (unless it's a crock pot meal where I have to plan in advanced). We already had the chance to be flexible yesterday when I realized that my pork for pork chops was frozen solid... whoops. (See, this will hopefully help me avoid situations like that!) Luckily chicken was thawed and ready to cook so we just switched Sunday and Monday!

Sunday: chicken and rice casserole (aka "non-poppyseed" poppyseed chicken)
Monday: pork chops
Tuesday: taco salad
Wednesday: pot roast

This weekend I will be shopping for the next TWO WEEKS and planning meals accordingly, so we'll see how it turns out and if it's something I want to make a part of our regular routine! Check out OrgJunkie.com for more menu plans!

Do you menu plan?
