Baby Jack - ONE YEAR!!!

1 Month: 9lbs 4oz, 22 3/4in long

4 Months: 14lbs 6oz, 27 1/4in long

5 Months: 15lbs 9oz, 27 3/4in long

6 Months: 16lbs 6oz, 28 1/4in long

7 Months: 17lbs 0oz, 28 1/4in long

8 Months: 17lbs 6oz, 28 1/2in long

9 Months: 18lbs 7oz, 29 3/4in long

10 Months: 19lbs 4oz, 29 3/4in long

11 Months: 19lbs 6oz, 30 1/4in long

12 Months: 19lbs 8oz, 31 1/4in long


Total weight gain: 12lbs
Total height gain: 10 1/4in

This sweet precious boy has officially been in our lives for a year now!! We cannot believe how lucky we are to be his parents. I mean, seriously. I get to hang out with this kid EVERY DAY!!

There are no words. Thank you Lord for your blessings.

This has been a HUGE month for little man!! 

Here is what Jack is up to at 12 months:

• As of today (a week past his b'day), he has 4 teeth with 3 more coming any day now! The third tooth showed up on June 15th (11.5 mo) and the fourth showed up this past Monday, July 2nd. We were at the doctor for his 1 year check-up and Dr. Shumate said, "Yeah, I see his three teeth on the bottom," and I'm like... uh.. he only has two on the bottom. That one must have sprouted this morning! :) No wonder little man has been a little grumpy at night. 
• Another big change this month is that he is the KING of finger foods now! At 11 months, he wouldn't touch table food other than puffs, but in the middle of the month I gave him some chunkier 3rd foods and he handled them really well! Then last weekend (the Friday night before his b'day) I gave him some diced carrots and peas and he went to town!! Since then we've been really good about letting him try almost anything we're eating, and he hasn't turned anything down yet! 
• Also last weekend, he decided he would finally "finger walk" with us! He typically goes all jello legs on me, but is now really excited to walk with help! And a few times we've helped him stand up and then let go and he's stood by himself for 5-10 seconds! I can't believe how big he's getting!!!
• Nighttime has been pretty good, although we are typically up twice each night. I blame teething.
• Can say all the words I mentioned last time, plus he's started saying kitty! It's not every time, but he's said it several times when she comes into the room. 
• He's also SO good about recognizing words I say. Like when I ask him to find his "shaky friend" (a little toy), his little duck, his ball, Mickey, etc. he can almost always find them!
• Still LOVES ceiling fans! Jason installed one in Jack's room and one in our bedroom, so now we have 3 he gets to look at!

Wedding in Sevierville

Two weekends ago, we went to the Sevierville area for Jason's friend Chase's wedding!

So here's a great story about our trip. We were literally 20 minutes away from the B&B, and Jason realized we didn't have our hanging clothes - the white shirt and khakis he needed to be an usher (that we had bought the night before!!), my dress for the rehearsal, and my dress for the wedding!!! Greeeeeeat. So we turned around, went back to the closest mall and had to buy new clothes to wear! So I got this fabulous blue dress that looked great in the dressing room while I was just standing there... but was a little much too short while moving around, squatting, dealing with a baby.

Oh well. It was a great weekend!!

June Goals - How'd I Do?

Hahahahaha!! Yes, that is an appropriate beginning for this post about my June goals.

I think Jack's face here sums it up.

• Celebrate Jack's 1st Birthday!!!! (we're doing it a little early so that ALL our family can be there!) - We  moved his party to the 8th, so this one gets moved to July. :)
• Complete final bathroom projects: stain trim, paint ceiling, accessorize - Nope.
• Blog about the Pink Bathroom - Nope.
• Blog about the Guest Room/Office - Nope.
• Finish A Time to Embrace, finish Pandemonium, and finish Grace for the Good Girl - Yes, yes, and nope.

Better luck in July?? :)

Happy FIRST Birthday Jack!!!

Here's the status I posted on Facebook last night:

At this time last year, I had just polished off a few Julie Darling Donuts, taken a looooong shower, and tried to sleep between contractions. :) About 12 hours later, I met my "sweetest darling". Jackson Dean- Mommy is so happy you were born!! Happy (almost) FIRST Birthday!!

This year has truly flown by. I cannot believe our sweet baby is already a year old!! 

I have a lot to recap about just this last month - he has learned SO MUCH!! But for now, I'm going to go love on him a little more before the end of the day.

Fun in the Fountains

On Wednesday, I met up with Lindsay and Becca (and kiddos) at Coolidge! 

We hung out in the grass for a bit.

Bonnie's Baby Shower

On Saturday Jack and I went to a baby shower for Bonnie & Ben! They have a sweet baby boy due in August! 

The food was yuuuuuummy!

3rd Foods Feast - and 3 teeth!

Tonight Jack ate 3rd foods like a CHAMP!! This is big, people! He has HATED textures in his food and has always gagged a little when he eats anything with chunks in it. 

Two nights ago, I was eating cucumbers (from Granddaddy Lawhorn's garden), and got a small piece to give to Little Man, assuming he wouldn't want it. Well, he ate it. And another. And another. THEN I put it on his tray and he didn't want to pick it up, but he did. And he ate even more! :) So that was fun.

Then tonight I thought I would see if he would like one of the 3rd foods (Pasta Primavera), assuming he would hate it. And guess what?! He ate the whole thing!

And have we talked about his obsession with "puffs"? Oh man, he's all about them. 

I think more finger foods are in our future!

AND, how could I forget?! Jack got his third tooth today! It's not one of the top front two teeth, it's the tooth to the left of the front tooth, if that makes any sense at all. :) I'll try to get a picture soon!
