I'm obsessed with reading.
I told you back in April (when I finished the Harry Potter series) that I had become quite a book worm, but it's getting worse! I've read almost everything Denise Hunter has written, I am two books away from being done with the Chronicles of Narnia series, and I already have several books lined up to read after that!So my question is...
What is the best book or book series that you've read in the last 6 months?
Even if you don't have a blogger account, feel free to leave an anonymous comment (just be sure to include your name!). I can't wait to hear what you all have to say!
Currently reading Crazy Love by Francis Chan. Excellent book so far. Next on my list is Same Kind of Different as Me by Ron Hall (my sister recommended this and said it's great).

Rainwater: Crazy Love and Same Kind of Different as Me are both amazing books. I am being a little kid and reading the How to Train your Dragon series. But, my favorites by far have been Pride and Prejudice and Redeeming Love. I was told that I was apparently an 8 year old female in Barnes and Noble when I walked to the register with How to Speak Dragonese and Pride and Prejudice...
ReplyDeleteTo answer my own question: it would be a tie (because they're both so different) between the Harry Potter series and the New Heights series by Denise Hunter (Mending Places, Saving Grace, Finding Faith). I love everything about the HP books, all the magic and suspense; and the Denise Hunter books are just sweet, page turning, keeps you guessing books that I couldn't put down. Patricia and Jess have read them, now mom is reading them, and Mamaw is next on the list! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah - have you read Steig Larsson's Millennium series? I don't normally read crime/murder mysteries, but these are good (warning:the books are edgy and raw). If you like memoirs, The Glass Castle and The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind are especially good.

I love getting reading suggestions from other book lovers! :)

Hi Sarah!!! I'm so happy that you have done this! Now that it's summer, more of my reading time can be spent on books instead of textbooks or technical papers. I love hearing what people that I know read... it let's you get to know that perosn a little better and usually if you like the person, their book choices are too shabby :)
ReplyDeleteI would have to say that over Christmas break, I was totally into the John Grisham books... but after reading a few, the storyline tended to repeat. I liked Water for Elephants by Sarah Gruen, but I'm not going to lie... it can be crude. It's nice reading a book every once in a while that has a different flavor than the rest. Another thing that I have been doing is going back and "filling in" childhood books that I always wanted to read. So I've read To Kill a Mockingbird, Anne of Green Gables, and the Secret Garden in the last year or so. It has been enjoyable doing this.
I am excited to try this book series. I need to read series more often because I am always so sad when I have to leave the characters of a good book behind. (Sorry for the long response that didn't exactly answer the question... but the best book series has been Harry Potter)
Well, as biased as I am, I could read ANY of the Harry Potter series all day, EVERY DAY! Favorite Series OF. ALL. TIME. I too am a huge book worm and I plan on being so until my timely death, lol.
ReplyDeleteI loved the Mark of the Lion series by Francine Rivers
ReplyDeleteI have to say my favorite series this year was Harry Potter. But, I just finished The Help, and it's an awesome book. Have you read it?
