Jason and I have fallen in love with these little oranges called "cuties"! Mom introduced us to them and we are already on our 2nd bag. They are small seedless oranges that aren't messy and are easy to eat!
This morning I had to do the yummy glucose test. I won't find out the results until the end of this week, so keep your fingers crossed for me!
FYI - for those of you fellow pregnant friends, it's not really that bad. It's 10oz and it tastes like a strangely sugary fruit punch drink, but it's not gross - NOTHING like the nasty colonoscopy stuff I had to drink last year, thank GOODNESS!
If you know that at your next appointment you'll be doing this test, ask if you can go ahead and get the drink/instructions, so that you can drink it before you go. You have to sit for an hour before they take your blood, so you might as well take it 30-40 minutes before you get there so you only have to sit for a little bit. And bring a book! :)
I'm praying my results don't come back positive,
but if they do, you can be sure I'll let you know!
Jason - the hubs, giver of compliments, eater of anything, my own personal vacation planner, comedian when I need it, greatest listener, best friend, lover of history, puts up with ME, politic-a-holic, family man, and supporter of all I do.
I love you for all these reasons and so many more. I thank God every day that He picked me to be your wife. We're not perfect, but we're so perfect for each other.
I love you more today than yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow.
One room in our house that doesn't get ANY love on the blog is the master bathroom.
I realized that I don't have ONE picture of the blue bath on the whole blog! And right this moment, I can't find a "before" picture, though you can just picture the above space EXACTLY as it is except with blue carpet on top of the blue tile. I (finally) deep cleaned the blue bath last weekend so what you're seein' is as good as it gets! (I love how streaky the mirror looks in this picture.. whoops. And the fact that the two brown towels don't actually match. Hmmm.)
Overall, though, it is similar to Young House Love's yellow guest bathroom. Somehow their's looks quaint and cute and ours look eeeek and outdated.
The shower in the blue bathroom works but leaks into the basement, so we have not used the shower in here since... month 2 of marriage?
Once we knew we were going to be re-doing this bathroom, Jason decided to take a sledge hammer to the shower, annnnnnd:
...now it looks like this!
We're definitely going to be re-doing this bathroom (and the pink hall bath) but right now we're debating whether or not we want to undertake this project BEFORE the baby comes or wait until later AFTER the baby...
Two major bathroom renovations in 2-2.5 months? Can it be done?
Last Saturday, after a fabulously wonderful & relaxing vacation, we went shopping for a crib!! We found the one we wanted at Children's Fair, a local store with great selection and even better service.
Once we got home, I kind of thought we'd wait a little while before putting it together, but Jason wouldn't have that! He put it together right away!
Isn't it beautiful!?
As you can see, we went with dark wood - it just suits our style more (our bedroom set is dark wood and most pieces in our living room are dark as well). And now that we know for certain that Baby Lawhorn is a little boy, it feels like the perfect buy. :)
Sunday night after two fun-filled days in Atlanta & Miami, we flew to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic! The airport there was totally open-air, it was so cool! We had to go through customs which took a little while, then took a crazy cab ride to our resort - the Gran Bahia Principe Punta Cana!
Monday morning started our restful, amazing, wonderful vacation. :) We did a lot of laying by the beach and by the pool for the first two days. Literally - that's all we did (lots of reading!!).
The pool area was beautiful, but since it was Spring Break, it got a LITTLE crazy at times.
Our room was really great! It was bigger than we expected with a fabulous bathroom (shown in the video). The best part was that we were in Villa 1 which was the furthest away from the lobby (lotsa walking) but the CLOSEST to the beach and pool! Literally STEPS away from bliss!
The only real negative about our room being where it was, was that some drunken group of college kids would come by EVERY night between 2:00-2:30am screaming, and hoopin' & hollerin'. THAT was super annoying. Like SUPER annoying.
Our main form of transportation (other than tons of walking) was the "trolley" which took us from one end of the resort where our room was, to the other end, where the lobby and main restaurant was.
"Somebody's at the door!" - when the trolley bell would ring at a stop, there was this little boy one night that kept saying "somebody's at the door" over and over again. It was so cute! So we said that all week.
Open area lobby:
On Wednesday we went on an excursion to the Marinarium Marine Park & Aquarium to snorkel and swim with stingrays and nurse sharks! It was so cool!!
does it get any better than this?!
I couldn't get the picture to scan, so here's a picture of a picture of us holding a sting ray!!!
Me & my baby daddy.
Thursday was another lay around and relax day (I read 3.5 books while we were there!) And Friday morning we got up super early to make it to the airport in time to go through customs and all that junk (glad we went as early as we did too!) to fly back to Miami and then to Atlanta and then drive home. Whew!
It was truly a fantastic vacation!!
I'm rested, refreshed, and TAN - what more could I ask for!?
Last week we took some time off from work to go on a "babymoon", aka a big "last hoorah" kind of trip before the baby comes. :) We've had our vacay planned for a few months now, and we were COUNTING THE DAYS!!!
Our adventure started on Saturday morning in Atlanta. Jason had never been to the Coke Museum and I had only been once, so we went there first and spent the morning there. Learning the history, watching/riding the 4-D movie, and of COURSE taste testing all the different Coke products from around the world! (Beverly is still the nastiest.)
Then we went to the Georgia Aquarium! I had kind of low expectations since I think we have the best aquarium around, but it was really great! Below is a picture of the coral reef section.
There's a section where you get to walk through this "tube" with all the fish around you!
Sunday morning we had an early flight to Miami, FL to hang out with my Aunt Ginny and Jane! First they took us around South Beach:
Big Mama, Daddy, & little baby boy :)
We went to lunch in the Key Biscayne area and Jason got to try stone crabs for the first time. They were really yummy!
After lunch we went back to Ginny's house to see the doggies (Xi, Dirk, and Taz) and rest up before heading out again. THANKS GINNY & JANE for being such fabulous hosts!
Check back for part two of our Babymoon - Punta Cana, DR!!!
