Complete the BodyRock 30 day workout challenge - I've got 3 more workouts and the final fit test to do, but I'm really proud of myself for sticking with it!! I'm going to finish this!
Celebrate Jack's baby dedication at church!!! - What a special day!(updated with a new picture!)
Read 2 books - Ummm... books took a back set this month. But I did listen to this book while we were on our quick vacation last weekend, and while I was there I got about halfway through this book, which I plan to finish this weekend.
GO ON VACATION!!! - Okay, so this wasn't on my goals list, but dude - it was so fun!! :)
This weekend we made a fun and spontaneous trip to Amelia Island! We stayed at the Amelia Island Plantation two years ago for Memorial Day so we thought it would be fun to go back with Jack! :)
Family photo on the beach - a sweet lady offered to take a couple and this was the best one. You will notice a theme in pictures of the three of us from this trip... we couldn't quite catch a smile at the right time from the little man.
We loaded him up with sunscreen, but forgot to bring a hat for Jack, so Jason tried to fashion a turban out of his t-shirt. Jack wouldn't have it!
Windy!
Fun on DA BEEEEEACH!
He really didn't care for it, to be honest. He thought the wet sand felt weird and he was NOT A FAN of the water rushing above his ankles. Needless to say, we didn't spend long in the ocean on Saturday. :)
We got a super cool float with a sun visor for the pool!
Again, he doesn't look happy, but he really enjoyed the pool!
After a lovely nap, we headed to the downtown area.
There was a cool pirate-looking ship in the harbor!
Our little pirate with his little pirate doll in front of the BIG pirate ship!
For dinner that night, we ate at the Falcon's Nest where we had REALLY enjoyed our dinner last time, and this time it was... kinda gross. Which was a huge bummer.
Dessert was awesome though!! And this picture cracks me up.
The next day we went out for breakfast at Ms. Carolyn's and had to wait OVER AN HOUR to be seated!! AHHHH!! It was really yummy when we finally did get to eat (but it's got nothing on Lillie Mae's!). Since we didn't get to eat until close to 12, we considered it brunch and didn't eat lunch out anywhere. (Little did we know that this would be our last meal on the island.)
We were informed that a tropical storm was on it's way to our area. So we changed our plans from leaving early Monday to leaving late Sunday. THEN because it was pretty gross all day, we ended up leaving at 4pm Sunday afternoon. Which was sad, but definitely a good thing since the storm hit, and hit hard!
Here's a video of our little adventure at the pool, then a couple pictures from our balcony.
We really had a great time! We wish it would have been a little longer but at least we got to go!
Another hilarious photo, that I love. :)
We listened to this book on the way down and part of this book on the way back.
I've been very opposed to giving Jack any foods that I don't think he should have... like ice cream.
So for some crazy reason, I said it would be okay for Jason to feed Jack some ice cream the other day. Now, I didn't catch the actual FIRST time where he smiled from ear to ear as his world was completely turned upside down. (Chocolate will do that to you.) But it's still pretty dadgum cute.
Alright my friends! Jack's FIRST BIRTHDAY is less than 6 weeks away!
Wah wah wah!!! Okay, okay, I'm done crying about it (today).
I would love to hear your opinions on the best toys for a 1 year old - 18 month old. We have a lot of wonderful things already but he is quickly outgrowing some stuff!
Comment below and let me know what your kids loved at this age!
I've had some issues since making the blog private yesterday! It will only let me add 60 people and I had a lot more than that ask to be invited!! (A good problem to have, I guess!) I am working to get this resolved, but in the meantime, I hope those of you who ARE reading will let me know you're here!!
I planted some seeds back on April 15th and have been nervous to show you the progress for fear they were doing to DIE on me... But alas, I can't keep much from you, so here's the garden so far!
It's actually doing well! And it's been raining a good bit around here,
so I haven't had to worry about watering! :)
From bottom to top: zucchini, squash, cucumbers, and sugar snap peas.
Hopefully they will continue to grow and we will actually get to EAT some of it this summer! :)
Edited to add: Jack also moved up in his Sunday school class on Mother's Day!! Ahhh!! I went to take him to the "Lambs" room and they said that because he's crawling and getting around so much, he would have much more fun in the "Turtles" class! It was a big day!
On Mother's Day, our church had a Baby Dedication service! It was so precious to see
10 sweet babies dedicated to the Lord in front of our church family.
We promised to the Lord and to Jack that we would bring him up in the "nurture and the admonition of the Lord" -Ephesians 6:4. The Message translation of this verse says "Take them by the hand and lead them in the way of the Master." The New Living Translation of this verse says "...Bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord."
We are so blessed to be Jack's parents and we couldn't be more humbled to take on the task of leading him to the Master. This is my prayer for our sweet boy every day.
We are in the middle, a little to the left.
My parents, Nick, Mamaw, Vanessa, Jason's parents, Jessica, the Cox's, the Lawhorn's, the Brannan's and Bonnie all came to cheer us on and watch baby Jack kickin' his sweet little legs up there. Then we went to Ben & Patricia's house to have lunch - it was such a wonderful FIRST Mother's Day!
So what did I get for Mother's Day?? Well, on the Wednesday night before Mother's Day, I was feeding Jack his dinner. He was busy watching the birds out on our bird feeder, when all of a sudden he started saying "Mmmmm! Mmmma! Ma!"
I FREAKED OUT!!! I was so excited! The BEST Mother's Day present... E.V.E.R.
And Jack's daddy got me a massage. Bless you, Jack's daddy. :)
so be sure to send me your email if you want to stay updated!)
It's time for another video around this joint!
I've been giving the little man "puffs" every once in a while and he's always tried to just swallow them whole instead of chewing them up. He then makes the WORST face ever and I wait a week or two before trying again. :)
Last night he finally chomped on it! He likes it! He likes it!
I know it's a little long, but you have to watch it because it's funny.
so be sure to send me your email if you want to stay updated!)
Okay Bri - he's not really doing fishy kisses yet, but pretty darn close! :)
Little mister was just enjoying his "apples & prunes" SO MUCH!
Actually he was in between meltdowns... it was an interesting evening.
You can tell at the end that he is about to lose it again.
It's so funny, being a parent: one minute you are about to scream "Mommy needs a TIMEOUT!!!" and the next, you are practically falling out of your chair laughing at your silly one, making fish faces.
Even when it gets tough, this is what I was made to do. Be his mommy.
Well, my friends, because I'm an over-sharer...
the hubby and I have decided to make the blog private for now.
I just love sharing all the little details, photos, and memories and it would be too easy for Joe Schmoe to figure out specifics about our family - where we live, work, and play. I don't want to put my family in any kind of danger, and I DEFINITELY want to keep sharing all the details, so making it private is the best way for me to do both.
For you to be able to continue reading my blog, please comment here (or email me, text me, facebook me) with your email address by Friday so that I can add you to the approved list of readers. I'm going to make the blog private next Monday, so you've got a week. :)
Now, the WORST part of all of this, is that my blog (now Always Newlyweds, formerly the Ooey Gooey Daily News) will not show up in Google Reader/other readers with any new posts, once it goes private. Even if you are on the approved list. So yeah, that's a HUGE bummer.
But I hope you will still check back with us as frequently as possible, to keep up with the renovations, activities, goals, videos and pictures of baby boy!! (Can you believe that in a little over SIX WEEKS, Jack will be a YEAR OLD?!? And you don't want to miss the birthday party posts, right?)
Well, that's all for today, folks.
Please send me your email addresses by Friday
so that I can add you!
Thank you all for being such awesome readers!
I love sharing with you and can't wait to continue! :)
On Wednesday we met up with several friends at an inflatables place close by. I was afraid Jack wouldn't have fun, but oh was I wrong!
Here's Jack's sweet friend, Eli - my friend Katie's son! He stuck his little fingers out and "danced"! (He's 3 months older than Jack.)
And here's Jack's friend Walker! I LOVE these photos - they make me laugh! Jack's face in the second one is hysterical! And then in the third, he's like "Do I like hugs?"
And finally some Mommy & Jack snuggles.
And a silly Mommy & Jack video.
Do you see why I titled this post "Bouncin' Bouncin'"? Did you hear me say it like 50 times? :)
Whooooo hoooooo!! It's time for a REALLY good reveal! :)
Let's take a look at the "Blue Bathroom" BEFORE & AFTER:
I seriously can't believe how amazing it looks! We are SO HAPPY with the change!
Here's a closer look at the shower:
Now, it's not 100% finished... I know, I know - it never ends! We still need to find a shelf/cabinet to put above the toilet, install a towel bar and TP holder, and touch up the paint.
