Does it matter what we listen to?

Please go read Alex's blog post today about how what we listen to affects us, even if we don't realize it (or don't want to realize it). I've definitely been one of those "I just like the beat, I'm not listening to the words" people. Read what Alex says about one popular song:
"If this song were a picture it would be X-rated.
If it were a movie it would be considered pornography.

Knowing this is true, why is it alright to listen to music about this topic when you claim the picture and movie versions are wrong?"
The past year or two I've kept my radio on J103, a local Christian radio station, and I have to tell you that it has made a huge difference for me. Songs tend to stick in my head all day long, and what better songs to be stuck in my head than ones that glorify God? Much better than a lot of the junk on the radio today. Every once in a while, I change it to my old favorite station, and am quickly reminded why I made the switch.

Is anyone else out there shocked when they hear an 11 year old (or younger) singing the latest trash-filled song?
(Honestly, I can't even give an example!)
