Window PAINS.

Uhhhhhhh.... Okay friends. I know that every one of you has a story like this, but I'm just a little too frustrated right now not to tell you mine. It just happened.

Today at lunch, Jason and I ran home to our house to meet with a window company (that will remain nameless) to get a quote on replacing our windows. We were all excited because this is a huge step in making our house a better place. So we have a 12 o'clock appointment. We get there around 11:45 and the guy calls Jason at 11:50 and says he's running late. He had been meeting with a client on Lookout and he would be there in about 20-30 minutes. Okay that's fine - he'd only really be 10-20 minutes late, so we could deal with that.
12:00
12:10
12:20
12:30
12:40...12:45... "Jason - is this guy coming?"

So I call him back and say "I was just calling to see if you need directions." (I was feeling a bit sassy at this point.) To which he gave me the same story "Oh, I got caught up at an appt. on Lookout Mtn, so I'll be there in about 20-25 minutes."

WHAT??? So I told him we'd have to reschedule because by the time he got there and did our little meeting and we got back to work, it'd practically be time to come home and we just couldn't be gone that long. Thanks.

So Jason and I leave and we're both QUITE frustrated at this point and hardly talk in the car for fear of spontaneous combustion. As soon as I got back to work I called the main office and filed a complaint, so the owner is coming out to our house next week AFTER work to give us a quote.

We're still probably going to use them (if the price is right) but MAN OH MAN - isn't that SOOOO ANNOYING!?!?!?! Grrrrr...

What's your "be there between 12-8pm, cable guy stands you up", story? :)

Home Reno Continues

Hiiiiiiiya!! Okay, to update you a little on yesterday's post, Jason and I rushed to my apartment during lunch to 1.) check on Dash and 2.) see if our little raccoon friend was still there. Unfortunately/fortunately he was gone. I'm thinking his mommy came and got him. She was probably hiding in the bushes just waiting for me to get away from her baby, even though I was only trying to help. Okay, so let's just stick with "his mommy came and got him."

About Dash - he's been itching, biting, scratching, shuffling around on the carpet - whatever he can to relieve that awful itchy-ness. We originally thought he had gotten into poison ivy because there is some behind my apartment where we take him out sometimes, but the vet reassured us that it's very rare for dogs to get poison ivy. Long story short, Dash's dumb mom forgot to give him his flea medicine this month! Oh, I felt SOOOOOOOO AWFUL!! And I could have sworn I had given it to him, so it never crossed my mind that it was my fault. :( Anyway, one Sentinal pill, one Advantix on his back, and a night and day of sleep and my little booger is back to his normal self. When I let him out of his kennel this morning, he ran laps around the coffee table. "He's baaaaack," I thought to myself.

Monday my mom and I painted the guest bedroom at the new house! This was one of those put it off and put it off projects, because it didn't really matter to Jason if it was painted before he moved in (which has been almost 4 months now!!). But since I will be moving out of my apartment July 4th weekend, and moving most of my stuff to the new house, the room needs to be somewhat finished so I can fill it up.

I, however, will be moving back home for the last time. So bittersweet. I've already promised Nick that I will be nice to him. And that I'll help with dinner when I can, and clean up and stuff. Mind you, this will be the month before my wedding, so I could be a big stress ball.

Anyway, back to painting the bedroom. If you remember, this room is affectionately known as the horse room. At the time of that post, we were planning on the horse room being the office, but we changed our minds. So now the rainbow room will be the office and the horse room is a lovely shade of light green, which matches all my current bedroom stuff. I will try to remember to take a picture tonight and update this post tomorrow. Until then, just remember all the yummy goodness that USED to be... the "Horse Room".

Crazy Morning

I know I haven't updated you on my long weekend yet, but I had to tell you this little story.

I'm walking out of my apartment this morning and as I come to my car I notice something in the empty spot next to me - a precious little baby raccoon.

Look at that little face!!! So I'm standing in the rain, like what in the world should I do? And it keeps on laying there so I assume it's hurt and has probably been hit by a car or something. But really I think it's just because he was such a baby. He would try to stand up and shake off and would fall over. So I grabbed a t-shirt from the back of my car and slowly went over to pick him up. I figured he'd be scared to death but he just looked up at me like, okay go ahead. So I took him over to the tree line in the woods next to our apartment and layed him under a bush to keep him out of the rain.

So today at lunch when I go home to check on my puppy dog (more on that later), I'm going to see if he's still over there and Jason and I are going to take him to the zoo or the nature center or something. OH HE'S SOOOO CUTE!!

After 22.5 years and many failed attempts...

I am SERIOUSLY going to stop biting my fingernails.

No, really. I promise this time. (Okay, maybe I shouldn't promise but I'm REALLY going to try.)

I even went so far as to buy "Control-It!" which is this NASTY tasting cream that you rub on your nails and then when you start to bite you go "bleh... pth.. ewww. Gross. Yuck!"

I'll let you know how it goes.

Mission: Invitations

Whew. I've been working on invitations all last week, with only a couple nights off. I finished my parent's list and I'm nearing the end of the Miller's list. Now the main thing that's left to do is find out a ton of addresses from a long list of our friends. Luckily Facebook can help with that! It's fairly easy to jot a quick message to someone, rather than hunt down someone who knows so and so's address.

Things are coming together!!
2 weeks = Work shower
5 weeks = RBBC shower
6 weeks = moving out of the apt. back home with the 'rents
9 weeks = Dad's b'day
10 weeks = Mom's b'day
12 weeks = WEDDING!!!

Good Fiber / Bad Fiber

Good fiber:

Fiber One: Oats & Chocolate. Mmmmmmm... sooooooo goooooood. Seriously. Better than any old granola bar. And pretty darn good for ya, too. (Though Jason has talked me into getting the Great Value BeneFIT bars in Oats & Chocolate, instead, and though are not quite as "moist" as these, they do the trick for a lot less $.)

Bad fiber:

Quaker Oatmeal: High Fiber, Maple & Brown Sugar. Yuck. I literally took one - MAYBE two - bites this morning and... blah. Threw away the rest. It had such a weird taste, and tasted NOTHING like the regular M&BSugar.

I think I'm fine with getting 35% of my daily value of fiber from the granola bars, thank you very much.

Any fun/healthy foods you've found lately? Were they good or gross?

Whoopsie Daisy...

I told you I'd write every other day, and I haven't been! I'm sorrrrrrry!!!!

Okay so to recap my long weekend: I took Friday off from work and went to get my FINAL dress fitting!! (Well, I had alterations done, and they're done, so I got to take the dress home!) Then I met my mom and we went to see HANNAH MONTANA the movie. It rocked my face off. Literally. (It was super cute, and if you are really 14 years old in your brain - aka me and Mom - then you will love it too!)

Then I went to my parents house and along with a little help from YouTube, I learned the Hoedown Throwdown. Yeeeeeeeeeee-haw!! (Don't be jealous, I'll teach you too.) Mom, Nick, Dash, and I went by the church to see if there was anything we wanted from the garage sale and I ran into EMILY THRASHER!! YAY!!! It was so great to see her... you will never find her without a huge smile on her face. :)

Then Jason and I went to the Wilderness Outdoor Theater and saw Star Trek and the Soloist. Star Trek was awesome and the Soloist was weird and I'm glad we didn't pay the big bucks at the theater to see it (only $5/person at the drive in).

Saturday I took my flower girl, Anna, on a date and we went shopping for her dress! It was soooo much fun, and we found the perfect dress. Some more time with my family then back to my apt. to watch our newest obsession LOST (until Jack comes out NEXT WEEK!!). We're about 1/3 of the way through Season 2... I love watching TV series with my fancy.

Sunday was Mother's Day and we got the opportunity to have lunch at the Miller's and dinner at the Guin's, so we were happy campers. WE LOVE OUR MOMS!!!!!!!! (And Grandmothers, of course!)

This week includes addressing invitations, watching LOST, and giving my apartment a long-overdue cleaning. HAVE A FANTASTIC WEEK!!

Oh the joys and wonders of Photoshop.

Man, have I told you how much I love our engagement pictures?? Oh, I haven't? Well, I do!!!!! Yesterday at work I decided to make this picture my background, and I have not regretted the decision. :)

The only thing is, I just wish the sky had been a little blue-er when we were out there, because I'm, at the moment, obsessed with blues and greens. The greens are very green, but the blue is, well, nonexistent.

So after a bit of research on google (i.e. "how to make sky bluer on photoshop elements") and reading through several articles before finding anything useful, I stumbled upon something that actually made sense. Add a layer, use a gradient sky blue down to white, then use the Darken blending mode (all of which didn't initially make sense, but...) and voila!

Pretty sweet, huh??
Before and After:

Now, this is definitely not perfect/not print-worthy, but I have to say, I'm pretty proud of myself. :)

Cruise with me, baby!

Okay people, I've got some good and EXCITING news!!!

Jason and I are going on a CRUISE for our Honeymoon!!!!

We are so stinkin' excited!!! We are going on THIS SHIP and we're going HERE:

...which, if you can't read it, says we're starting from San Juan, Puerto Rico and going to:
*Oranjestad, Aruba
*Willemstad, Curacao
*Roseau, Dominica
*Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
and back to San Juan.

AHHHHHHH!!!!! SOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!! I've never been a cruise before so I have no idea what to expect, but Emily is going on one in less than 2 weeks, so she can give me some pointers. :)

IS IT AUGUST YET!?!?!
(this is the song that's running through my head... the Huey version)

I. Love. Being. Engaged.

On Friday, April 24th, we got to go to Camp Vesper Point, the place where we met, to take OUR ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS!! Becca and Keith were amazing and made us feel totally at ease. Well, let's just say, I thought I would be a rock star diva, and I was NERVOUS! And Jason was the rock star (not a diva, though) and was totally calm and relaxed. I would say, "Becca, what should I do? How do you want me to pose?" and he'd say "Babe, just look at me. That's all." :)

Anyway, it was wonderful and amazing and here's the proof.

(Photos taken at the dock, at the "beach", on the back porch swing, on the trail to Vesper Point, and the crazy ones are on the field. There are a few more on Facebook, but you guys get to see the silly ones.)

Jason said, "...I think someone is FOLLOWING US!!"

Watch out, bub. I got a MEAN karate chop.

Wait, wait!! I was kidding about the karate thing!!

Only 95 days!!!!

How could I be so...

STUPID!!

Yesterday Jason and I went to my parent's church (my old church) for my brother Nick's Confirmation. I was really excited about going, not just to celebrate with my family, but because this was the first time Jason and I had been to Signal Crest since we got engaged!

I did my best to look cute (c'mon now, that's what you do when you know everyone's going to want to talk to you!) and flew out the door when Jason called to say he was at the apt. ready to pick me up.

15-20 minutes later as we're walking in to the church, I make the statement "I'm so excited because this is the first time we've been here since we got engaged!" and as I'm saying it, a sinking feeling came over me. Wait, no. It can't be. There's no way ---

I forgot my ring.

It was the first time I had walked out of my apartment without it on. And of all days. So after profusely apologizing to the love of my life, I wondered if we could make it back in time if we left to go get it... no, that wouldn't work. We'd miss half the service. How could I be so stupid!

So then I had to explain to everyone that asked why I didn't have my ring on and no, we're still engaged, please don't tell people we're not, I'm just stupid, please go ahead and tell people I am.

Sigh...
