135

I'm with Sassy and Classy - for whatever reason, I have not wanted to blog this week! (Though, I haven't been sick... so I have no excuse really...)

Right now we're at 135 days and counting, but there is nothing too exciting going on.

We're still trying to figure out where to go on our Honeymoon. THANK YOU for all your wonderful suggestions - you guys ROCK, and you've been some pretty cool places! We think we may have found a great deal, but we are definitely still praying about it. God's in control of everything - why not let Him be in control of this too!

I bought my dress (you know this), and then took it for alterations - OH MY GOODNESS. They tried to nickel and dime me. Okay, so I'm cheap. Like on a SUPER cheap budget for the whole wedding. And no I will NOT spend more on alterations than what it cost to buy the dress!! Sheesh. So, no bustle, (try an extra $180 for that sucker), but I'll make it. :)

And we've picked out our bridesmaid's dresses and Jessica picked out her dress (they don't make the b'maid dress in her size), and I've picked out invitations, but haven't ordered them yet. Still working on the guest list... yikes - it gets bigger everyday!! We're trying to keep it within reason, but goodness, between all of us (Guins/Millers/Lawhorns, etc.) we have a LOOOOOT of family! That's like half the guest list. Anyway, we are SOOO pumped to be able to celebrate with everyone though, so that's all that matters.

I am taking a vacation day tomorrow (WHOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!) and I promise I will try to post again soon. :)

Things to look forward to:
Jason's 25th birthday!!! (tomorrow)
Meeting with Dr. Dooley a/b the wedding
Engagement pictures!!!
Going to Birmingham with my mom to see Wicked (4/4/09)

"I'd Like to Poll the Audience, Regis"

For our very first vacation together - where in the world should my future hubby and I go for our honeymoon? If you're married, where did you go? Would you recommend it? If you're not, where would you want to go, or where have you been on another vacation that was amazing?

Basically, we've "narrowed it down" to either an all-inclusive resort or a cruise and somewhere warm like the Caribbean or Mexico. Yeah, REAL narrow list.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?! All advice appreciated!

Day... um... what day is it?

Hello all!! What a fun and crazy weekend! Saturday I headed out with my mom, Patricia (Jason's mom), and Jessica (his sister) to look for a dress.

Not just any dress. THE DRESS. The WEDDING dress.

So we began at David's Bridal and tried on 800,000,000 dresses.. no really, I'm not exaggerating. Okay, maybe a little. I think I tried on 15 there.. or so. So that's pretty close to 8 million.

Anyway, we had it narrowed down to 2 and were debating on which one we liked the best, when the girl who was helping us (Erin) brought another dress by and said, "I know it's not exactly what you've been looking at, but I really love this dress," so I mean, hey - how many times in your life do you get to LEGITIMATELY try on wedding dresses? So I tried it on and was really surprised at how much we all liked it. (Little did I know that it could be THE DRESS.)

But alas, I couldn't just buy the first dress I loved. So we went to Boutique Couture after lunch, and man oh man - the dresses were beautiful. It was funny because the sizes they have to try on in the store were a bit too big to fit me, but they had these huge clamps that they used to pull it tight in the back. It was hilarious to see the difference between this wad of clothing draping over you turn instantly into an elegant beautiful dress - just with a few car clamps! (Seriously, they looked like car battery charger clamp thingys.)

But alas, the prices were a bit (a LOT) above my set dress budget. So we decided to sleep on it and think about it the next day. That night my "fancy" and I headed out with Em, David, Becca H., and Matt to eat dinner at Crust. When we got back to the Geyer's, I layed all the pictures of all the different dresses out (in no order) and told Em and Becca to pick their favorites. Turns out, both of them picked THE DRESS. So I called my mom and said, "Where are you on all this - which one do you like the best?" And she said THE DRESS. At church the next morning, I asked Jess, "What's your pick?" and she said THE DRESS. Then I asked Patricia and she said "No, no, I can't tell you! I don't want to have an effect on which one you get!" And I said "You HAVE to!! We've all picked the same one and if you say it too, I'm going right now to buy it!"

Guess what she said...

So I bought it.

Day 8 1/2: Muuuuuuch Better

YAYYYY!!! Okay, so last night we experienced registering at its best! We had so much fun and got a TON accomplished. Though we still have no idea what kind of bedding we want or what shower curtain would possibly work in the pink bathroom, we had a lot of fun picking out things to complete our home. (How fun is it to say that?!)

Also last night, my dog bit me. Not ferociously. Not on purpose. Egged on by his sweet "future daddy"... and my hand got in the way. Dash was going in for the chomp on Jason (mind you, he never bites down, just puts his teeth around Jason's fingers or hand, etc.) but before he got to the "restraint" part of the bite, I stuck my hand in to stop Jason from aggravating him and MAN OH MAN!!!! He got me on the top of my hand, right in between my thumb and pinkie, right on all those veins and small bones. Well first of all it scared me to death because I didn't expect him to bite me, second it hurt like the dickens (as my dad would say), and combined with my "vasovagal-ness", I truly think it knocked the wind out of me. Maybe not. Maybe that couldn't happen... And I was just freaking out for no reason... Either way, my hand is sore today.

Day 8: This time last week...

This time last week, I didn't know that day would be THE day. :) Little 'ol unsuspecting me.

In other wedding related news... Jason and I decided, after our Dave Ramsey class last night, to stop by Bed Bath and Beyond to begin our registry!! YAY!! How fun, right? Okay, so it's a lot harder than we expected. I mean, a LOT.
Well, I knew that I would love all things OXO, so there are like 30 OXO products on the list. That part was easy. But cookware (aka pots and pans) - YIKES! Who knows?? Just because it costs $500 doesn't mean I'm an instant super chef, right?
So the fact that we didn't come prepared, plus we only had 45 minutes before the store closed, yeeeah.. we didn't get very far. We're planning to talk through it more so that we have a GAME PLAN and hit it up again tonight.

Shew... this should be FUN and EASY... so that's tonight's goal: fun and easy. Ephasis on fun.
And easy.

Day 6

Day 6:
  • scheduled appt. at two bridal boutiques (YAY!)
  • forcing... (scratch that) encouraging parents and future in-laws to hurry up with the guest list :)
  • detailed planning tonight with Bec and Em (and Kate... she's got good ideas)
  • stopping and remembering - oh my goodness I'm engaged!
  • enjoying my beautiful daisys from Emily (thanks friend!)

...I promise I won't do a play-by-play like this EVERY day... I hope. :)

Day 5: Planning sets in...

Man, my cheeks hurt. Why, you ask? Because I just can't stop smiling!!! :-D

It has been such a fun 5 days so far. Quick rundown:

Day 1 Thursday: GOT ENGAGED!!! get together with friends
Day 2 Friday: dinner with both sets of parents at El Monteray (I could hardly eat!)
Day 3 Saturday: spent time with Mamaw (my grandmother) and Nanny (Jason's) and watched 24
Day 4 Sunday: church, lunch at the Miller's with a lot of Jason's family to celebrate, more 24 (we finished Season 4!)

Now it's Day 5 Monday and I've got both my mom and Jason's mom on guest list duty. We are trying our best to stay within a certain amount... we want to invite everyone we've ever met, of course, so it will be hard to narrow it down. I'm just excited to be starting all the planning!!

Quick note: Jason has been WONDERFUL so far with everything... duh. Like I didn't expect it. But really; he had called the church before he proposed to make sure it would be available when we wanted to get married. Then on Friday (after we decided on the big day) he (without being asked) called the church and booked the day! ...I think I'm going to like this... Now he says just give him a list and he'll get it done. YES SIR!

Any good tips on an inexpensive wedding? Things you were glad you did? Things you wish you hadn't? Things you're planning (if you're not married)? Any help would be GREAT!!

The Growling of Chewbacca

This weekend we decided to bring Dash to the Geyers for a playdate with Harley (and to play Settlers with the Rocha's/Geyer's!!!)

Jason is SOOOOOO excited about it!!!!!

Dash was a growling "Chewbacca" the whole time... he was NOT a big fan of the fun-loving Harley and his playful antics. Don't get me wrong - both little boys are sooooo sweet and precious, Dash just doesn't do well with other dogs. (In counseling, he will blame his mother.)

Look at this FAAAAAACE!!! I got lucky on this shot.

Maybe someday they can grow to be BFFs like their owners. :) Until then... we've decided not to let them "fight it out". This could result in loss of limb.
