Baby Lawhorn {Week 22}

How far along?: 22w1d - last week of the 5th month!
How big is baby?: The size of a papaya.
Weight gain/loss?: +8 lbs as of today

Sleep?: Overall, still sleeping well, but if I wake up in the middle of the night (usually to use the bathroom - go figure), then Baby thinks it's morning and wants to do yoga in there or something. I'm like "kiddo - you've got to stop moving - it's 3 o'clock in the morning..." :)
Food cravings?: Graham crackers!!!! Like all the time! Sometimes with PB but mostly just plain.
Gender?: We are hoping to find out TODAY, so we will post later this week!
Movement?:
Movin' around and kickin' like a soccer player. :)
Belly button?: Seeing more of the inside of it each day. Yikes.
What do you miss?: I always sit with my legs curled under me, or pulled up to my chest - can't do all that stuff now!
What are you looking forward to this week?: Seeing our precious angel on the ultrasound today and hopefully finding out if Baby is a boy or girl!!

I wouldn't typically post this, but oh my goodness - my belly!

Maternity clothes?: Wearing the BeBand every single day! Need to probably get some actual maternity pants soon...

Stretch marks?: Not yet.

Nursery - Clean Slate

With our precious wonderful sweet baby on the way, we decided to start clearing out the guest room so that we can begin the process of decorating it to be a nursery!!

As promised yesterday, below are some of the "phases" of our guest room.

Ahhh, the horse room. Good 'ol horse room. I don't miss you.

After some suggestions from you guys, we updated the room to the point where it has been for about the last year or so.

Then... this is reality. What it ACTUALLY looked like on a daily basis. Yeesh.

This is where Jason irons his work shirts... and that's really all that is done in the room. Another junky catch-all, if you ask me.

One final angle, just in case you haven't had enough.

And here's the room NOW:
Once we moved the bed into the office, we decided to put the little couch from the office in here for now. We may or may not keep it in here when the baby comes, but for now, it's part of our lovely minimalist look. :)

Now all we need is a crib!
Oh yeah, and a baby. That too.

We're planning to go with a dark wood crib
(in a style similar to our current bedroom set)...
do you guys agree or think that white would look better?

Phases of our Office/Guest Room

This weekend we did a little rearranging around Casa de Lawhorn. With the little bambino on the way, we knew that the guest room would become the nursery, so at first we planned to leave the full sized bed in there. Then we decided to put it in the office and see how it looks in there, so that's where the rearranging began!

Let's go waaaaaaaay back in time (2 years, to be exact) to January 2009 when the "rainbow room" first became ours.
Wowee that's some niiiiice carpet!

During 2010, this is what the office space has looked like. Jason didn't have his work computer yet, so we never used this room. Desk, couch, old blue dresser, and junk. (We did add a ceiling fan though!)

NOW we've added the guest bed and it feels more like a complete room! It's no where near done - we've still got some straightening and purging to do, but I'm really happy with how it's looking!

Check back tomorrow for our clean slate nursery!

The Nerd in Me...

...is completely obsessed with this.
I mean, seriously folks - can the presidents get any cuter???

Even though I have ZERO reason to buy this...
I'm reeeeeeally thinking about it.

Find any cute stuff on Etsy lately?

Baby Lawhorn {Week 21}

How far along?: 21w1d!
How big is baby?: The size of a banana - my little monkey.
Weight gain/loss?: +5-6 lbs
Stretch marks?: Not yet.
Maternity clothes?: I bought my first maternity clothes last Thursday night with Alex! I got a cute black dress, a bathing suit for our upcoming vacation, and a cover-up for the suit! So fun!!
Sleep?: Sleep is getting harder (waking up a lot), but I would say that overall I'm still sleeping well.
Food cravings?: Panera's IC Mocha. Everyday. All the time.
Gender?: Our next appt. is next Monday 2/28, so hopefully Little One will be cooperative!
*Movement?: KICKS GALORE! Yesterday (Sunday) Jason got to feel his first "for sure" movement. He has felt little flutters before, but has always said "Was that the baby?" Yesterday that Little One kicked the fire out of Daddy's hand! It was very obvious that is WAS the baby that time. :) All day yesterday Baby was kicking like crazy and we could even see kicks on my tummy throughout the day!! AMAZING!!!
Belly button?: I've always been an "innie" so now that I can see the inside of my belly button, it completely freaks me out. A sign of things to come.
What do you miss?: Buttoning my pants... TMI?
What are you looking forward to this week?: Yesterday was such a big day for us! With all the kicks and Jason getting to feel them. I don't know what could top that!

Baby Lawhorn {gender - take 1}

crazy baby laying on his/her head with feet up over the head
Below is the full story about our gender ultrasound on February 4th.
(Potential baby names have been hidden because I'm mean and sneaky.)

(M) 1/31/11 10:00am
I hope this week flies by!! We are having our gender ultrasound on Friday and I can't wait!! I go back and forth everyday, but I think Baby Lawhorn is a little girl. I still kind of hope for a boy since we both come from "boys first" families, and I love the idea of a girl having a big brother, but in my heart I feel like the baby is a girl.

When we were having dinner this weekend, Jason brought up that he likes the name "_______" for a girl. I agreed - it's a beautiful and classic name. I think this was his first major girl name contribution! We were set on _______ for a boy for a long time, but Jason really likes ______ or ______ and doesn't feel like _______ is "the name" anymore. We probably won't worry too much about it until after Friday! The big family Reveal Party is on Saturday!!!

(W) 2/2/11 2:00pm
Only two more days until we find out! I'm getting so anxious!! I really can't wait to know! Yesterday I felt the baby move for the first time! I was driving to work, stopped at a light, and I felt a "thud" on the inside of my tummy. I felt the same sensation about 4-5 times throughout the day and realized - this has to be the baby! It's a strange and wonderful feeling!

Last night Jason and I were talking and he asked me whether I thought the baby was a boy or girl. (Now, remember, Jason wants a BOY so bad he can hardly stand it.) I told him that I really hope it is a boy, but that my heart tells me it's a girl. I was half expecting him to say "Aww - don't say that! You'll jinx it!", but he said "Yeah, I think it's a girl too." So surprising!! So who knows, Little One - you are keeping us on our toes!

(F) 2/4/11 2:00pm
Today we were supposed to find out whether Baby is a boy or girl, but we weren't able to tell based on the position the baby was in. I am so sad... devastated even. I cried and cried and was so upset with everything and everyone. I had to cancel our party. Well, postpone it at least. My expectations for today were so high... I just KNEW we were going to walk away knowing the gender of our baby. I hadn't prepared myself AT ALL for not knowing. I'm so disappointed...

(F) 2/18/11 8:00am
It has been two weeks since our first gender appointment. I hate that I got so upset about not finding out, but my expectations were way too high and I think the Lord really used the situation to remind me that there are so many more important things!! I let the disappointment of not finding out the gender overshadow the fact that our precious baby has long skinny legs like Mommy! :) Our baby is growing, healthy, and daily moving around in my tummy. We are soooooo so blessed!!

And two weeks from Monday we will go back to try once more. If Baby feels like keeping those long legs crossed, then so be it - we will praise Him for the ability to just see our precious child again. Of course, I would love your prayers that we will be able to find out, I'm just trying to keep my expectations reasonable this time. :)

Baby Lawhorn {Under Construction}

Yesterday was probably the craziest baby construction day ever. Let me explain...

Not only did Little One dance around and play soccer in there ALL. DAY. LONG. but I also felt my stomach stretching throughout the day. What a strange sensation! I mean, let's face it - it's uncomfortable! Pretty much just like it sounds - my stomach STREEEEEEEETCHING with sharp pains every once in a while. Super weird.

But I wouldn't have it any other way. :) This temporary slight pain is preparing my body so that Baby can grow even more! (Praise the Lord for this wonderful miracle!)

The other new/weird thing was my uncomfortable-ness sleeping last night. I haven't really had any trouble sleeping so far (thank goodness!), but last night when I was turned on my side, my tummy was just PULLLLLLING and again, it was super uncomfortable. Now, my belly really isn't huge yet, so I definitely didn't expect to have to do this so early, but I had to get a pillow in the middle of the night to put under my tummy so that it wouldn't pull so much! CRAZY! I have a feeling it will be a nightly ritual now. :)

That's really all today. I just wanted to tell you (and have it written down) so I wouldn't forget. Only 12 more days until our next appointment!

(I just realized that I haven't fully updated you on our first failed attempt at finding out if Baby Lawhorn is a girl or a boy, so expect that tomorrow or Friday!)

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Sunny Saturday

Saturday afternoon we met up with Hunter & Elizabeth to go downtown and have some fun! We planned to go on the River Gorge Explorer, but when we got there, they were sold out for the rest of the day, so we went to an IMAX movie instead!
We are so hot.

We saw "The Ultimate Wave Tahiti 3D" and it was really cool. I learned a lot about the "science of waves" that I had forgotten since school. :)

Then it was off to the Ice Cream Show!! YUMMMMM!!!

I took a picture of these stairs after we went down them, because going down you would never know they were painted!

We went back to our house that evening and Elizabeth and I made Chicken Piccata - it was really yummy!

We had a blast with them!! Love you guys!!

Baby Lawhorn {Week 20}

(I'm turned a little more than I probably should have for this picture, so my belly looks a BIT bigger than it really is... especially since today at church I had like 5 people ask me if I'm sure I'm actually pregnant!)

How far along?: 20w1d - halfway there!
How big is baby?: The size of a cantaloupe!! Can you believe that?!
Weight gain/loss?: +5 lbs
Stretch marks?: Not yet.
Maternity clothes?: My BeBand is getting lots of use.
Sleep?: Still sleeping well.
Food cravings?: Ice cream this week. That's pretty typical right? :)
Gender?: Go for our next appt. on February 28th, so we'll see if Little One is being cooperative.
Movement?: Feeling probably 8-10 or more "thumps" every day.
Belly button?: A little... wider? Yikes!
What do you miss?: Same as last week - easily bending over. It's already getting hard!
What are you looking forward to this week?: Being halfway!!!

Baby Lawhorn {telling the 'rents}

This is my journal entry from the week after we told our parents.
We told them Halloween weekend! That feels like so long ago! :)

(W) 11/3/10 8:00am
Last weekend we told our parents! We went to my parents house before lunch and luckily Nick was about to leave with Lee to go to the Oglesby's for the haunted house (we weren't ready to tell him yet). We hung out for a little bit and then Jason told Mom and Dad that we had late Mother's Day & Father's Day gifts for them. After a perplexed look, they closed their eyes, and I put "Mimi" and "Papa" nametags on them! They opened their eyes and were both SHOCKED!! Mom was speechless for a second, but it didn't last long! :) We stayed for a little while longer and talked and got excited. They are both so excited to be grandparents!! Then we left because I was meeting Emily and Samantha for lunch, but I had to keep my mouth shut! (which was really hard for me!)

one set of very proud Grandparents!

Later that evening we went up to the Millers and Jessica had just left for a Halloween party. It was Ben's birthday and we said we had a gift for both of them! We put their "Grandma" and "Grandpa" nametags on (future grandparent names to be determined), and waited for their reactions. Patricia's face lit up and she couldn't stop hugging us! Ben said it was a great birthday present!

another set of very proud Grandparents!

Workin' in the Yard

Two weekends ago, Jason, his mom & dad did some awesome yardwork at our house. It was time to get rid of the ugly dying trees.

Here is the front yard, prior to their magic:

Please note the hideous, overgrown bush below the living room windows. See the basement window? Nope, because it's HIDING!

My hubby workin'  hard.

Ben putting the dead tree out of its misery.

Aaaaaaand... after!
See? There's a window down there! :)

One last before & after.
BEFORE:

AFTER:

Our yard seriously looks HUGE (and will be much easier for Jason to mow). I can't get over the difference, every time I drive up.

Step 1 of our yard "remodel" is complete!
